Lanterns designed for Kagu / Akari

KAGU/AKARI | FISHCAKE, HONOLULU | 14 JANUARY - 6 MARCH 2016

Starting in 2010, Kagu/Akari (meaning "furniture/luminary" in Japanese) has been an important show for Hawaii artists in furniture/luminary design. Each year, fishcake welcomes both veterans and new talents to showcase fresh pieces, as functional as they are artistic.

As a leader in Hawaii's contemporary design community, fishcake holds this show as a great opportunity to usher in designers who've yet to share their works on a public and/or commercial stage, many of which hail from the University of Hawaii Manoa's School Of Architecture Furniture Elective. However, it is the pairing alongside senior designers who's works are more familiar that creates a unique vision for design in Hawaii.

fishcake’s brick and mortar store in the heart of kakaʻako showcases fresh furnishings, accessories + art for the contemporary home. our design studio fishcake[works] designs commercial, hospitality and residential interiors. www.fishcake.us.
